FARGO — North Dakota State University President Dean Bresciani has been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, according to an email he sent Monday, Sept. 21, to the campus community.

The head of the land grant school said he doesn’t have any symptoms after being exposed off-campus to a person infected with the coronavirus. However, Bresciani said he will get tested and quarantine himself through Thursday, Oct. 1.

“I would not normally share my personal health matters with campus,” Bresciani said in the statement. “However, as I wrote in the last campus update: if we stay vigilant together, we can stay open together, and I’m going to be adhering to the quarantine restrictions to do my part for campus safety.”

The 14th president of NDSU has been with the school since 2010. He is currently leading the university through a pandemic by allowing classes to take place in person and online. There's also a mask mandate for anyone inside campus buildings.

Bresciani said he has packed his office materials and plans to work from home through the quarantine. "No other NDSU individuals are impacted," university spokeswoman Brynn Rawlings said.
